Minigame
Appearance
A minigame (also spelled mini game and mini-game, sometimes called a subgame or microgame) is a short game often contained within another video game. A minigame contains different gameplay elements and is often smaller or more simplistic than the game in which it is contained.[1]
Examples of Applications
- In lieu of other choice systems for branching narratives
- To break up sections of a narrative to set or reset ludonarrative pacing
- To cater to audience less inclined to engage with a full visual novel
- To cater to a targeted niche audience in addition to other readers (e.g: Point and Click investigations for puzzle & mystery game enthusiasts.)
