Elevator pitch
This article needs expansion. You can help by adding to it. |
An elevator pitch is a short, pre-prepared speech that describes your game (or company, or skills) in a clear, easily understood way. It's called an 'elevator pitch' as it's designed to hook someone’s attention in the time it takes for someone to ride an elevator to their floor, that being roughly 30-45 seconds. An elevator speech should not take any longer than this to present, however, also avoid being rushed and without properly laid premise.
Closely related to the concept of an elevator pitch, is your log line. A log line is a one-sentence summary of your game that is meant to clearly and concisely describe your game in its most comprehensive form.
Both an elevator pitch and log line can be used in your game's marketing materials (including the store page), to help people quickly understand what your game is about. Both a logline and an elevator pitch is usually listed in a Game design document as the first and most primary aspect of the document.
Features
A well-written elevator pitch should:
- Have a quick introduction for the games premise.
- Be concise (75-125 words is a solid standard).
- Highlight the game's main conflict and goal.
- Highlight the main features of the game, alongside any features that may set the game apart from other games in its genre.
- Target a specific audience.
