Velox series of visual novel jams

The Velox series of visual novel jams is a group of three short-duration, recurring visual novel jams, inspired by Ludum Dare. It includes Velox Fabula, Velox Turbo, and Velox Formido. Each iteration has a different theme, which is selected by a community vote.

Iterations & History

The Velox series has three different versions/component jams:

• Velox Fabula: The original Velox jam. It lasts for 10 days and occurs in August. The first iteration occurred in 2023. The name means "Quick Story".
• Velox Turbo: A four-day jam that occurs in December. Its first iteration occurred in 2023.
• Velox Formido: A two-day jam that occurs in August. Its first iteration was in 2024.

Each iteration has one or more themes that submissions are required to include. Themes are decided by a community vote, and are announced when the jam begins. Historical themes are as follows:

• Velox Fabula 2023: Unreliable narrator
• Velox Turbo 2023: Morally ambiguous promise
• Velox Formido 2024: Enemies with benefits; flower symbolism; doomed by the narrative; trapped with someone; forbidden romance. (At least two of the five must be included.)
• Velox Fabula 2024: You shouldn't be here
• Velox Turbo 2024: The eye of the beholder

Awards are distributed based on community voting, and the list of categories varies in each iteration.
