Kickstarter is one of the most popular crowdfunding services among VN developers.
As with other crowdfunding platforms, developers can create a campaign where they seek donations from the public to help fund their game, in exchange for rewards, such as merchandise, free copies of the game, or behind-the-scenes content. Kickstarter operates by taking a percentage of all donations as fees. In the US, these fees range between 8% and 10%.
When new Kickstarter campaigns related to visual novel development go live, they are posted in DevTalk's Community news channel.
