• This person is not someone you ordinarily communicate with.
• This person does not post in any of the servers you share.
• This person cannot be vouched for by anyone you know.
• This is someone you know, but the way they communicate is very different or out of character.
• This is someone you know, but haven't spoken with in some time and they've included a link, attachment, or demand.
• This person has communicated to several others privately with the same message and/or requests.

What are these links?

• The message contains an unsolicited link to a Discord server.
• The message contains a link that is a near-miss misspell of a known site. (e.g: discrod.gg.)
• The message contains a look alike sub-domain on an invalid domain (e.g: discord.freestuff.com)

What is in the message?

• The message contains a file (game, or other attachment) you were not expecting.
• The message is highly urgent, or time sensitive.
• The message implies gaining something of value.
• The message implies a threat or consequence.
• The message requests you to look at compromising pictures or screenshots of yourself or people you know.
• The message is uncharacteristically full of misspellings and bad grammar.
• The message is uncharacteristically formal or informal.
• The message requests you take an action, like clicking a link, downloading something or providing information.

How do they communicate?

• The person never enters the 'Person is typing...' state.
• The person has responses that are nearly immediate.
• The person never responds to you.
• The person responds to you, but their writing isn't consistent with their first message.
• The person isn't forthcoming with your questions.
• The person becomes irate, agitated, or insistent.
• The person refuses to speak in a non-private setting.
